Nothing compares to sitting outside with a refreshing glass of vino, soaking in the sunshine while enjoying a delicious platter or two! Stroll along Vardon Avenue and you will see for yourself why Mother Vine is top of our list. Wine is arguably the best matched drink to go with any antipasto platter, which is why this wine bar does such a superb job. There are a range of food options available including, charcuterie platters, cheese boards and tapas; however The motherboard platter trumps them all. Featuring all of the above and more (cheeses, cured meats, olives, bread, pickles), the motherboard is best consumed with a couple of friends and your favourite drop!
A picture is worth a thousand words – which is why the Inglewood Inn’s keg platters are next on the list. It should be noted that you won’t be able to order one of these keg platters on a day-to-day basis as they are included in function packages – nonetheless, too beautiful to be left out. If you aren’t looking to book any functions, the Inglewood Inn also have other charcuterie and cheese boards available in their restaurant.
This beachfront bar needs no introduction! Sought after for their gigantic platters, Bacchus Bar at Henley Beach creates different boards for every time of day. After a walk along the jetty or a dip in the ocean, head to Bacchus Bar for one of their incredible breakfast, lunch, dinner or dessert platters. Our choice? You can’t go past the breakfast platter (pictured) with all the favourites, consisting of hash browns, smashed avocado, bacon, mini pancakes and more. However don’t be fooled – you’ll need more than a couple of friends to finish one off!
Murray Street Vineyards Cellar Door
It would be wrong of us to write about SA’s best platters and not include a winery! Sometimes it’s best to keep it simple and let the food do the talking, so our next best platter belongs to Murray Street Vineyards for their delectable cheese platter. On a winery trip to the Barossa, head to their cellar door to taste some of the delicious wines that are cleverly matched with flavours from these boards.
The newly renovated Feathers Hotel in Burnside is last on our list of exquisite platters, for their variety of flavours and options. When you’re not sure what you’re in the mood for – or you just want a ‘bit of everything’, check-into The Feathers. Featuring four different options, including a Mexican, seafood, meat lovers and Feathers tasting plate, there’s truly something for everyone. For a hot summers day, opt for the seafood platter, including, chipotle mussels, South Australian prawns, squid and Garfish, charred lemon, romesco sauce, tartare and rustic bread with chips. Best served with a refreshing glass of Pinot Gris.
