The Kangaroo Island Racing Carnival features two exciting race days – the first on Thursday, 20 February, and the main race day, the KI Cup, on Saturday, 22 February.

Avoid any planning hassles by taking advantage of the Kangaroo Island Cup Day packages offered by SeaLink on Saturday, February 22, departing from Adelaide, Cape Jervis, Penneshaw and American River.

Why not celebrate the SeaLink Kangaroo Island Cup in style and enjoy the Full Day Race Package with Long Lunch.  Spend the day enjoying large grazing tables on arrival and a delicious two-course lunch accompanied by Dudley Wines and a selection of beers and soft drink. The Long Lunch Package also includes a racebook and the marquee will offer private betting facilities and screens.

Optional packages are available for those travelling from Cape Jervis and include return SeaLink ferry, return transfers to the Cygnet River Racetrack and a general admission ticket. For locals or those holidaying on Kangaroo Island, the Full Day Race Package includes return race day transfers from Penneshaw or American River.

“The KI Cup just keeps getting bigger and better each year. The carnival brings with it a real party and racing atmosphere with the hotly contested fashions on the field competition. It will be extra special this year and we encourage everyone to join us at this unique community event,” says Julie-Anne Briscoe from SeaLink.

The Kangaroo Island Racing Club have pledged to donate any net profits generated from the 2019/2020 racing season – an estimated $20,000 – to the Kangaroo Island Mayoral Relief and Recovery Bushfire Fund.

“We want everyone to know that KI still has significant parts of the Island that have not been affected by the fires and there are lots of things for tourists to see and do, including our fantastic racing carnival,” says club secretary Greg Miller. “The racecourse was not affected by the fires and is looking in the best condition it ever has.”

For the best Kangaroo Island Cup experience, an extended stay before or after the carnival is the only way. Take a little extra time to see Kangaroo Island’s fascinating wildlife, spectacular coastal scenery and landscapes, pristine beaches and breathtaking natural beauty – they’d love to see you!
